A family group taken outside their home in the 1950s.

Of course, I don’t know for certain this is a picture taken outside the family home. In fact, since the girl on the end seems to be carrying a prayer book or bible, it could have been taken outside a church or in a village near a church. The fashions look quite typically 1950s to me, and the girl on the end, closest to the photographer has also appeared in pictures at Kenilworth Castle and on a beach. I assume this is a picture of her with her Mother and Sister.

I really like to see these pictures, images of people whose lives will forever remain a mystery to me. Somehow I feel that from the photos one can infer much of the individuals’ personalities. The three ladies are so happy, so happy to be in each other’s company, that one cannot fail to instinctively like them, to be a bit uplifted.

I agree Roy – I often find myself wondering what the people in the photos did with their lives. We see a brief snapshot of a moment in perhaps 80 to 90 years, and can only imagine the rest.
