Christmas Day teatime

I've called this picture Christmas Day teatime, because that is the memory it conjures up for me. I remember my Nanny (my Dad's Mother) standing in her kitchen at Christmas time with exactly the same pose and surrounded by washing up and discarded plates of left overs. In my case, that happened on Boxing day, but I could be Christmas Day.

The other slightly odd thing about this picture is the way the woman is holding her hands. My Nanny held hers in exactly the same way because she had suffered a nasty cut with a bread knife and could never hold her hand quite straight again - I suspect this woman has simply been caught in a pose by the camera, but to me it seem uncanny!

I don't know the exact date of this picture, but I would guess it is in the late 1950s or early 1960s/
